know when to hold 'em

gamblers anonymous uses the following questionnaire to determine the likelihood of a gambling problem:

1. Did you ever lose time from work or school due to gambling? no... i'm self-employed and out of school.
2. Has gambling ever made your home life unhappy? no.
3. Did gambling affect your reputation? yes... not sure if in a bad way or good way.
4. Have you ever felt remorse after gambling? yes, when i lose.
5. Did you ever gamble to get money with which to pay debts or otherwise solve financial difficulties? isn't that the point?
6. Did gambling cause a decrease in your ambition or efficiency? why work when i can just win money playing craps?
7. After losing did you feel you must return as soon as possible and win back your losses? yes, but after i've been comped for a free buffet.
8. After a win did you have a strong urge to return and win more? why stop when you're on a roll?
9. Did you often gamble until your last dollar was gone? define "last dollar".
10. Did you ever borrow to finance your gambling? only from danny
11. Have you ever sold anything to finance gambling? define "sell"
12. Were you reluctant to use "gambling money" for normal expenditures? only if i was down
13. Did gambling make you careless of the welfare of yourself or your family? no
14. Did you ever gamble longer than you had planned? yes, every time
15. Have you ever gambled to escape worry or trouble? yes... financial worry and financial trouble.
16. Have you ever committed, or considered committing, an illegal act to finance gambling? what, like robbing a bank? um... of course not...
17. Did gambling cause you to have difficulty in sleeping? not when i win
18. Do arguments, disappointments or frustrations create within you an urge to gamble? maybe. like the night someone didn't call me back...
19. Did you ever have an urge to celebrate any good fortune by a few hours of gambling? birthday celebrations? sure!
20. Have you ever considered self destruction or suicide as a result of your gambling? of course not. how can you gamble if you're dead?

gamblers anonymous believes that most compulsive gamblers will answer yes to at least seven of these questions. i think i've truthfully answered yes to ten. but i'm positive that i don't have a gambling compulsion. i mean, it's not like the dealers know my name. danny, on the other hand... what?!?

i figure that if you're having fun talking around a craps table with fellow degenerates, then shit... money well spent. i have, however, won the last two times, so if anyone's free on thursday...

so from the above, you can certainly ascertain what the events of sunday consisted of... also, we bought .22LR ammo for about 1.7 cents each, at wal-mart. danny sighted his rifle scope, and i blew the chest out of a silhouette target, expending about 400 rounds of our newly purchased ammo.
