algorithm march

this blog is for bean. hey bean, please do not read this unless you are high.

so robyn sends me this link, and i think it's absolutely bizarre. it's a video clip of this prison in my homeland, the philippines. she titled the email something like "what inmates do in filipino jails... this is for real", and i'm thinking that i'm about to watch some brutal massacre of violence and torture...

but this is what it was instead... as seen on youtube.

holy shit. i want to know how they picked the inmate to play the girl. and like with all youtube viewings, i scanned the "related videos" to see what other sorts of nonsense they had done, and lo and behold... they've done the algorithm march!

algorithm march
i came across this clip about six months ago, but i never got the chance to forward it on. i'm not gonna explain shit, because when i first watched it, it was just out of sheer curiosity of the title. before i toss you the link, here are ten reasons why i love the algorithm march.
1. the dog bark at the end, causing the ninjas to scatter
2. the music - strangely addicting
3. the use of ninjas - because why the fuck not?
4. the initial army-like command shout for "algorithm march!"
5. the fact that the other guy repeats the command
6. the final pose at the end of the march, wtf?
7. the fact that there are karaoke like subtitles, so that all of us can sing along
8. the maneuver of "pumping up" the chestnut
9. the serious faces on the two main guys, throughout
10. the absurdity of not knowing what this is about or where it came from, but loving it anyway
if you have a sense of humor similar to mine, then you will surely enjoy this clip...

the algorithm march, with ninja and everyone together!

go back and read my 10 reasons while you watch it again.

wow, so was that some good shit or what? and i know what you're thinking... you want to do the algorithm march! well i've been secretly practicing it for the past couple of months, so next time i see you... i'm down! i may have to be drunk or on some other substances, but i'll do it.

so the filipino prisoners did the algorithm march as well. it's not as entertaining, because there's no ninjas. but if you do some searching on youtube, you'll find that the same guys do the march with several other people, including a japanese football team and bus drivers. and then, outside of the original performance, many people have copied or even created their own versions of the algorithm march.

here's one for robyn and chuck, since they like naruto so much. this new version of the algorithm march was performed at the 2007 ACen (i'm not gonna tell you what that is, it's too nerdy).

check it here.

this is just a comment/observation/suggestion. when i read your blogs, some of your words or phrases are in bold print. however, your hyperlinks are also in the same bold print. can you underline and/or make the bold print a different color as to easily distinguish the hyperlinks in your text? thanks.

OMFG!!!!!!!! The Algorithm March is absolutely BRILLIANT!!! I watched almost every version of it on YouTube including the Tall and Small, the Teachers, Stockholm, bedroom in Italy, etc... I love it, and we need to do it! We are doing it, we need at least 3 people to make it look right. If we can get more people, I want to dress up as a ninja. I am not joking. We'll sing the melody while we're doing it. Let's practice! And we're doing it sober. We don't need to be under the influence to do it.

The Algorithm March damn near made me mess myself. WTF is that crazy thing and where the hell did it come from? Brilliant.

Dave - don't kid yourself - I will need to be under the influence to do this properly. Severley under the influence if you are going to be dressed like a ninja.
