there's a show on the
travel channel called
bizarre foods, and i just spent the last hour watching all sorts of weird shit that my people eat in the
philippines. most notable was the
uok, a giant coconut grub that they serve daily at a restaurant called
balaw balaw, 20 miles outside of manila (
pictured). oh, there was also the
mangrove worm, which lives inside of bark on the beach. apparently the locals eat them live after dipping them in lime juice. i give the host mad respect for eating everything that he did. i'm also mad jealous because i wish i had his job.
