and so it begins

roy, mark, and i showed up at the spot at 5:35pm, after walking 10 city blocks... from belmont to montrose on broadway. sweaty and nervous, we went upstairs and were greeted by the 48 hour committee, who sort of snickered when they heard roy introduce our team as meat is murder.

we were all nervous, but roy was an absolute bloody mess... unable to speak, staring blankly, and just generally morose. mark and i tried to make small talk, but we were just dying to get the damn genre. finally at 6:25pm, they had the teams pull slips of paper out of the hat and we got... ROAD MOVIE! we were pretty happy, because we had a good general plot for that genre. but i was a little sad because i knew that our story didn't involve many characters, and therefore some of the people who wanted to join, wouldn't get a chance to. if we did not pull road movie as our genre, it would have been more reasonable to have a big crew, with more actors/extras/helpers. sigh. i digress...

we almost left the place at that point, because we were so excited, but i remembered that we needed our character, prop, and line. a few minutes later, sal showed up and we celebrated our genre choice, and at 6:58pm, they read the elements:
character : james/jenny crawford, librarian
prop : plastic storage box
line : "i declare!"

we had a quick brainstorming session at the spot, but we left to go eat at gino's east on diversy and lincoln. there we hammered out more details about the plot, characters, and shooting. tomorrow, we'll be taking a real road trip to oregon, illinois, about two and a half hours south of algonquin. we'll be shooting segments all the way down there, as well as our top secret destination in oregon. then we'll drive back and edit saturday night and into sunday morning. keep checking here for our updates.

.: a lovely message to very special people :.
from the bottom of my heart, i would like to thank those of you who volunteered to help us in our endeavors this weekend. we invited thousands upon thousands of friends to join, but only few even responded. specifically, i would like to thank anna bean, arielle, and kristen for offering to help out in any way... i wish we could've had you here. good news is, this is only our first movie and there will be plenty more coming soon. we're not gonna wait until next year to film another one, so we'll be calling on you again in the near future... thanks.

i'm busy writing the script, so i'll catch you on the flipside...
