korean drama
i'm happy and mad at aymeei at the same time.
i'm happy first and foremost, because aymeei's mom made me some sushi and cut some dried seaweed and red lettuce so that i could make my own little rolls. she even had a pot of whole grain rice (very healthy), and she made some fresh korean hot sauce for me to dip my rolls in. finally, she gave me some soju (korean liquor) to wash everything down. after about 4 baby sips (about 2oz.), i decided that i had enough korean alcohol for one night. yuck. it actually wasn't that bad, but i don't like to pound shots while i'm eating a tasty meal.
so i was full and the food was delicious. then came the part where aymeei introduced me to the modern korean drama.
and now i'm mad at aymeei because i'm afraid of the new addiction it may have caused. korean dramas are kinda like soap operas, except that they eventually end. some shows can be as short as 24 episodes and others as long as 100 episodes! you must be wondering if i understand/speak korean... well i don't, and that's why it was nice to have aymeei there to translate every line of dialogue and recap previous story lines. right now aymeei and her family are into 4 different shows that are currently airing in korea. much like our american tv stations, they put episodes on the web daily, after they are premiered. i was able to catch 3 of them, whose titles are in korean characters/letters that i cannot read.
some of the more popular shows get subtitled in english, however, those are usually the shows that have completed airing. and just when i thought i got the youtube bug out of my system... aymeei searches this show called goong or princess hours, and sure enough, youtube has the freaking episodes, with english subtitles. i strenuously urge you NOT to search for this title on youtube... what you will find out is that this, and other korean dramas have strangely addictive story lines and ridiculously charming plot twists.
aymeei's mom wants me to come over tomorrow night to catch the next set of episodes... and i'm struggling to say no.

i didn't know aiymee was that fluent in korean.
if their dramas are so good, then why can't they produce more good movies?
