vegas day two recap
we didn't sleep in. we couldn't keep away from the gaddamn tables. by 10:00am or so, we were up and at the imperial palace, shooting craps at a table all to ourselves. it was back and forth all morning, and we finally started waking up when the celebrity impersonator/dealers came out to perform. there were: the blues brothers, ricky martin, elvis presley, shakira, beyonce, and some others... and for $5, you could have any one of them deal you a hand of blackjack or caribbean stud.
we left at 2:00 or 3:00 to go eat some cheap pizza at o'shea's. we walked across the street to the mirage, where we were turned off by the $10 tables. then we took a stop next door at treasure island and found that their limits were steep as well. across the street again, to the wynn, (my favorite hotel), so that danny and i could sign up for some player cards, just in case we wanted to drop big bucks here... at some point, but not today.
we decided that we may as well just go the complete cheap route and just take a cab over to downtown vegas, for the real shithole casinos. only here will you find $3 craps. we hit up all the majors: the freemont, binion's, golden nugget, fitzgerald's, and the four queens. we threw dice over at the freemont, surrounded by dejected geriatrics with melanoma. it was horrible. when we were both up over a hundred each, we had to leave this disaster.
we signed up for the binion's card and danny won $80 on free slot play. danny immediately went to the gift shop and bought a binion's hat. we then played some craps with purple colored dice. i lost all the profit from earlier, and david was due to arrive from chicago, so we packed up and motored back to the flamingo.
dave showed up, we all got dressed to the nines, and we ate a quick meal at the cafe in the flamingo. we took a cab to the palms, where we rode the elevator to the playboy club to meet jlegg to begin the bachelor party festivities. the playboy club was not at all what i imagined it would be like. it was nicely designed and modern, to be sure, and the view (from the windows, onto the strip... not of the bunnies) was spectacular. but the ambience was just run of the mill and not worth a $40 cover charge... thank god dave got us some free passes.
the normal $40 charge does get you into the dance club at the top of the playboy tower at the palms... one escalator ride up from the playboy club. it's called moon and appropriately so. there's a beautiful balcony view of the whole las vegas strip, and i do believe it's the highest that i've been in any vegas building. so moon was decent, but not worthy of a top 5 spot in my list of favorite vegas clubs.
we left there to make our way to og... and i just remembered that what happens in vegas...
so at some point, danny and i ended up in the stratosphere, where they have a no-craps-craps-table. you don't wanna know. anyways, we were too tired to play, so we went back to the hotel to crash for the night. i was not sure of the whereabouts of the others... nor would i tell you if i was.
